They just keep coming...

Tonight Laura and I were discussing a matter. Ellie made some comments that let us know that she not only understood what we were talking about, but that she was aware of the context (which we only spoke about in veiled terms).

Daddy: Beans... How did you know what we were talking about?

Mommy tried directing her attention back to the vegetarian chili.

Mommy: Sour cream is good on chili. You know what else is good with chili? Ear muffs...

Ellie: Okay, okay...

Mommy: Eat some of the beans. You like beans. They'll make you healthy.

Daddy: And make Daddy's seater noisy.

Ellie: Then we'll need seater muffs.

Uncle George was nice enough to come over tonight and hang out with Daddy and the kids. We had pancakes for dinner, which is always a big hit. While Daddy was putting Edison to bed, Ellie and Uncle George were coloring.

Ellie: This circle needs to be pink.

Uncle George: Pink is a good color.

Ellie: It's the brightest color in the rainbow.

Uncle George: It's a princess color.

Ellie: Yeah. This circle needs to be blue.

Uncle George: Yeah? You got the blues?

Ellie: Hahahah...

Uncle George: Did you think that was funny?

Ellie: Sometimes, people laugh because they don't understand what you said.

Daddy: Hahahah!

Parents of Elmo-loving children will understand...

Last night, after Laura and I did some catching up on Heroes on DVD (we're almost through Season 1), I switched over to TV and Jurassic Park III was on. I tuned in just in time to see Mr. Noodle's brother, Mr. Noodle get chomped by velociraptors. It made me smile.
